Head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Edward Odoom has reiterated that he does not need a new assistant coach in his team since he already has one.
The role and position of assistant coach at Hearts of Oak has been vacant since Odoom was promoted to take over the position of his former boss Kim Grant late last year.
The former Tema Youth coach has had a herculean task managing the Rainbow club which has not seen victory in their last four outings.
However, despite the vacuum in the technical side of the team, coach Odoom has emphasized that he needs no assistant since he already has one in the name of Ben Owu, the goalkeepers' trainer.
According to Odoom, he prefers to consult Owu because he serves as an assistant coach and his certification makes him qualified to hold that position despite the role he plays as a goalkeepers trainer.
“I think you people know that Owu is a coach or Owu is not a coach?, Odoom quizzed reporters after their game on Sunday.
He added, “There nothing separate from a goalkeeper’s trainer and others. When you go to a coaching course it is a coaching course but you decide to be specific in your area. Owu is a coach and I consult him anytime.”
Hearts of Oaks next game will be another regional derby against Great Olympics on Wednesday at 7:00 pm at the Accra Sports Stadium.
