Newly crowned interim WBO World super bantamweight champion, Isaac Dogboe, says his target is to become the number one in his decision and not to have a rematch with Cesar Juarez.
Dogboe dropped Juarez twice en route to a stoppage victory in round five last Saturday at the packed Bukom Boxing Arena to win the vacant interim WBO World super bantamweight belt.
After the bout, Juarez and his team said referee Tony Weeks stopped the bout prematurely and they want a rematch.
“At this moment we don’t need Cesar Juarez anymore,” Dogboe told Ghanacrusader.com in an exclusive interview. “We knocked him out, it wasn’t like it was a split or majority decision or we went all rounds and they say they rob for Isaac Dogboe because it was in his country, no, this was a knockout.”
“If he want a rematch, he has to pull something out of the magic hat the same way we were able to enticed him to come to Ghana. His team has to make sure that the package they bring to the table is a great package and let us make it happen,” he added.
When asked how much is he looking at before giving Juarez a rematch, he said, “I can’t call no figure. Like i said the package they bring to the table has to be a great package, but at this moment we are not going backwards we are moving forward. So we are chasing for the ultimate title to become number one in the division.”
He continued, “There are two champions now, myself and Jessie Magdaleno so we have to move forward. If anyone want to stop the train he has to be prepared to put something down and let us make it things happen.”
Dogboe after winning his last Saturday’s fight is line to face full WBO World super bantamweight champion Magdaleno for the latter’s belt.
