I don’t regret rejecting sports minister offers – Kwabena Yeboah

Renowned Ghanaian football commentator, Kwabena Yeboah, has revealed he does not regret declining the opportunity to serve in the Sports Ministry on several occasions.

According to the ace journalist, he was not prepared to take up the position of deputy Sports Minister after he was approached by ex-Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Evans Attah Mills.

“I don’t know, I didn’t think I was prepared for that office,” Yeboah told host of Starr Chat, Bola Ray Wednesday.

He added: “Former President of the land J.A Kufuor...invited me to his house...but didn’t give me the details why he invited me to his house; all he told me was that he wanted me to help with sports development in the country.

“I was there one afternoon when Mallam Issa - then minister for sports - through Alhaji Jawula invited me to the ministry of finance and Mallam Issa told me that Kufuor would approach me and I was going to be his deputy, but I laughed it off.”

Yeboah also told Bola Ray that a similar offer was made to him by former President Mills, but he declined.

“When the late President of the land, Professor Mills was elected, Professor Dodoo initially was meant to be the Sports Minister and I was approached to be his second-in-command and again I didn’t think I was ready for that and I declined it."
