I don’t think KP Boateng wants to play for Ghana - Tony Yeboah

Ex Ghana striker Tony Yeboah believes Kevin-Prince Boateng is being forced to play for the Black Stars.

The Schalke star is yet to make a playing return to the Ghana national team following his decision to rescind his international retirement two months ago.

Boateng did not play for the Black Stars despite reporting to camp in the World Cup qualifier against Zambia – owing his absence to injury.

He again missed the resounding first leg win over Egypt in the playoffs also due to injury.

Many however have raised doubts over the commitment of the ex AC Milan star and rather believe he is coming up with excuses of his injury just not to play for Ghana.

And ex Black Stars striker Yeboah who played most of his professional football in Germany thinks Boateng clearly doesn’t want to play for Ghana.

“I don’t think he wants to play. That is how I see it,” he told TV3.

“So why do we force someone to play when he doesn’t want to?

“We have created this situation for ourselves and now we have to manage the situation.”

And even though the Black Stars have looked far too stronger in recent games, the issue of Boateng’s absence linger on the minds of many Ghanaian soccer fans.

Opinions are sharply divided on whether the midfielder should still be relied upon especially after qualification to next year’s World Cup in Brazil is secured.
