FC Samartex coach, Nurudeen Amadu has set his sights on achieving glory ahead of their maiden participation in the CAF Champions League.

The Timber Giants will represent Ghana in the CAF elite competition after emerging as champions of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.

Last season, Karim Zito and Evans Adotey guided Dreams FC and Medeama SC to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League in their first attempts.

Speaking in an interview, Amadu said he is hoping his team can take a cue from the performances of Medeama and more so Dreams, who reached the semis of the Confederation Cup.

"It's a privilege and I take inspiration from any of them like [Karim] Zito, [Evans] Adotey. Medeama as a club what they have been able to do, we are all proud of them," he said.

"Since it's our debut, we are also trying to go far, trying to do our best. It's not going to be easy. The technical team, the playing body, the management and the investors, are all motivated to carry the team to a different level."

FC Samartex have been paired with Cameroonian side, Victoria United in the preliminary round of the competition.

The first leg will take place on August 18 at the Omnisport Stadium in Limbe with the return leg also scheduled at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 25, 2024.
