I have learnt a lot from Man City – Kwesi Appiah

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says he has learnt a lot from the Manchester City technical team after spending one week at the Carrington training ground, where he met manager Roberto Mancini and his backroom staff.

The 52-year-old wants to refresh his knowledge on the game ahead of a busy schedule starting June.

Appiah’s Black Stars will be involved in two crucial 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Sudan and Lesotho on the road.

The soft-spoken ex-Ghana captain claims he has learnt a lot from the trip.

“The trip has been very useful,” Appiah told the BBC in an interview.

“I have learnt a lot, not only tactically but about what the physio does and also the psychologist and the other departments around the team.

“I have had an opportunity to speak to David Platt, Brian Kidd and manager Roberto Mancini as well.

“There are some things the manager has told me about how he sees the game – and he has been very helpful,” he added.

His visit to Eastlands is part of the Ghana Football Association’s partnership agreement with the club.
