“I have passion for boxing” – Gyan

Bankroller and owner of Baby Jet Promotions, Asamoah Gyan has said, he has a lot of passion for boxing and will do his best to revive the sport in the country.

Gyan said, he had been a fan of boxing since his childhood days hence his decision to invest in the sport in Ghana.

According to Gyan, just like other footballers who do Golf and other sports during holidays, he also enjoys boxing during holidays.

Gyan said, Ghana has been denied of world champions for a while, and there was the need to invest in the sport to ensure that new world champions emerge.

“It should not always be football. I admit football is the number one sport, but we need to create opportunities in other areas”. Gyan said in an interview with Kwabena Yeboah on GTV on Monday.

Commenting on his boxer, Gyan said, Emmanuel Tagoe is hungry for success and is definitely a candidate for a world title one day.

He said Tagoe has all the qualities of a world champion and with determination he will make it to the top.

“Tagoe is a crafty and skilful boxer. Though he has applied a lot of antics. I think he has what it takes to be a world champion one day.” Gyan noted.

According to Gyan, Tagoe’s unique way of entering the ring is always misconstrued by people to be arrogance but added that, boxing is also entertainment hence the need for boxers to entertain people as well.

“I don’t think its arrogance. It’s just a way of entertaining the fans at the stadium.” He explained.
