Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has revealed that he has not yet retired from football.

The former Udinese star has been away from football since he mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Accra-based club Great Olympics.

Renowned for his historic goal in the 2009 U20 World Cup, Agyemang-Badu has clarified that his football journey is far from over.

After a successful stint in Europe, Agyemang-Badu joined Great Olympics in April 2023. However, after just five months with the “Dade Boys,” he parted ways with the club, leading many to speculate that the former Udinese midfielder had finally called time on his playing career.

Reflecting on his career during an interview shared on TikTok, Agyemang-Badu stated that while he has retired from national duties, he remains open to club football opportunities.

“I said I won’t play for the national team anymore, but I haven’t retired from playing with a club team,” he said.

Agyemang-Badu also explained why he has been absent from football since leaving Great Olympics, addressing his decision to turn down certain offers.

“I terminated my agreement mutually with Olympics in January, and I was hoping I could have joined a club before the transfer deadline, but the offers I had were not convincing,” he added.

Agyemang-Badu was part of the Black Satellites team that made history by becoming the first African side to win the U20 World Cup when they beat Brazil in 2009.

He also played 78 times for the national team, including appearances in two World Cups and five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, scoring 11 goals before retiring from international football in 2020.
