Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Teye Partey has reiterated his desire to remain with the club despite overtures from England.

The Ghana international has become a transfer target for teams in the Premier League following a brilliant season with The Red-and-Whites.

The 25-year-old, who has extended his contract with Diego Simeone's outfit until 2023, has been linked to the likes of Chelsea and Southampton.

"At the moment, I am happy at my club but in football, you never know when and where you'll be in the next day or year," Partey told KweseESPN.

"The Premier League is a good league, it's very competitive and has some of the best players in the world.

"Hopefully, one day. I would like to play there."

"My agents are on it so I will leave everything for them.

"For me, I am happy playing football and I will continue to play where I am now until something comes up for consideration."

In unarguably his best season in Europe so far, Partey made 33 La Liga appearances involving 28 starts, scoring three goals to help The Red-and-Whites finish second last term.

"Football is a game we all enjoy," Partey added.

"What I have done, I enjoyed it but it does not put any responsibility on [me] because I try to enjoy the game.

"I try to do all of the work I'm asked to do and make sure I do exactly what the coach says. I am only under pressure when I am in front of the TV cameras."

The Odumase-Krobo-born was also instrumental as Simeone's side lifted the Uefa Europa League.
