I’ll protect the integrity of Division One - Acheampong

The chairman of the Division One League Board, Owuahene Acheampong hopes to sanitize the systems in the second tier league before the season ends to safeguard the image of the board.

According to Acheampong, in order to resolve all legal issues before the beginning of another season they are tempted to suspend matches in Zone One after an alleged bribery and match-fixing claims made by some fans.

Last Sunday, supporters of BA United after their match day 28 game against Bolga All Stars at the Sunyani Coronation Park claimed they intercepted GHC 4000 by some scandalous individuals who had taken bribe.

“We cannot behave as ostriches... we are also citizens of this country [and] we saw the video went viral.

"So at least the investigators look into the matter in the interest of fair play to protect the integrity of the league,” Acheampong told Starr Sports.

Meanwhile, Elmina Sharks have qualified from Zone 2 and will join the elite league next season.
