OSAFO MARFO DEFIED ADVICE NOT TO GO TO SOUTH AFRICA

The minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Yaw Osafo Marfo has revealed that he defied with impudence numerous calls from colleague ministers not to travel to South Africa for the Black Stars-Bafana Bafana crucial world Cup qualifier last weekend.

Speaking to Kwabena Kyere Stugard of SPACE FM in Johannesburg after the 2-0 win over South Africa, he said the advice from his colleagues was based on the premise that former ministers who attended crucial matches of our national teams did not send enough luck with them.

Pointing to his performance at his former outfit, the finance ministry, Hon. Oasafo Marfo boasted, ?My refusal to travel to Johannesburg would have meant I had conceded defeat in advance, but those of you who know me well know that I?m ?Yaw Oyeadeyie??

Later in a short address at a special dinner organized by the headline sponsors of Black Stars, Goldfields Ltd., the minister launched operation six points. He explained that even though Ghana is ahead of the other contenders for the Germany 2006 he would not rest on his oars until Ghana has beaten Uganda and Cape Verde Islands

According to him, Ghana?s qualification to Germany 2006 would be a big plus for president J.A. Kuffour, himself, GFA and the media who have worked diligently to bring Ghana this far.

Other top government officials who traveled with the minister included one of his deputies, Angela Amissah Baiden (Mrs.) and the Western Regional minister, Hon. Joseph Aidoo.

The team returned home last Monday to a hilarious welcome by thousands of fans at Kotoka International Airport.
