Ghana’s Isaac Dogboe quickly threw down the gauntlet to injured super bantamweight title holder Jessie Magdaleno after knocking out his countryman Cesar Juarez Saturday night.

The 23-year-old has challenged the Mexican to not “run away” from him.

Juarez was made to fight the 23-year-old Ghanaian due to a wrist injury picked up by Magdaleno in the build up to their scheduled fight in November last year.

Now with Dogboe overpowering Juarez via a fifth round technical knockout which earns him the interim WBO World super bantamweight belt, he is now the sole contender for Jesse Magdaleno.

“Jessie Magdelano I’m coming for you baby. I know you are going to run but guess what the lion is here,” Dogboe said after the GHOne TV televised fight night dubbed “Battle of the Gold Coast”.

Magdaleno is scheduled to return to the ring on March 10th, as part of an ESPN televised card. It remains to be seen if there is enough time to make the Magdaleno vs. Dogboe contest for that date, which is a little more than two months away.

Dogboe and his management believe Magdaleno will do his best to avoid the contest. If Magdaleno does not fight him, the WBO will strip him of the belt and elevate Dogboe to full champion status.

On knocking out Juarez

Isaac Dogboe stated: “I feel great. Like I said in my interviews, sometimes the only way to suppress your enemy is to go at him and let him feel that you are stronger than he is and eventually, he going to break down.

“I want to say a big thank you to everyone that came out. We did it for the nation.
