Bankroller of Don’s Promotions, Micheal Nii Yarboi Annan, says he is optimistic of securing Ghana a world title this year 2019.

He disclosed this to boxingghana.com in an exclusive interview

“We have the mid-term plan and the long-term plan. The mid-term plan is within one year and we want to make them (Obadai Sai and Robert Quaye) ready for the world title in the mid-term plan.”

“In the next year that is 2019, I am expecting the two boxers in my stables to win the world titles.” He stated.

World title hopeful and current interim World Boxing Organisation Africa Super Lightweight Titlist Robert ‘the Stopper’ Quaye who registered a first-round demolition of his nemesis, Tanzanian Vincent Mbilinyi via a TKO is highly tipped by connoisseurs of the pugilist game to go as far as winning the world strap this year.

But there is that little business of fighting the current regular Africa Super Lightweight champion Marios Matamba “the Machine” (9-0,7 KOs).

Matamba won the belt in less than a month ago against Siseko Makelen via a 4th round TKO on the 7th of December 2018.

The former MMA fighter may not risk his just won belt against a crack fighter like Quaye who defines the reason of the sweet science of the pugilist art.

When he plys his craft in the ring, it is almost like watching a skilled artiste at work so much so that one almost forgets the fact that he is actually inflicting pain on his opponent as he punches with so much authority, and when he resorts to his counterpunching swifts, he becomes vicious and really enjoys hurting his opponents.

It remains to be seen what 2019 has to offer for Ghana boxing, but the CEO of Don’s Promotions may not be far from wrong in his assessment of his boxers especially Robert ‘the stopper’ Quaye.
