I’m giving off my best – Essien assures fans

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has served notice that he is going to the 2014 World Cup to die for his country.

The AC Milan midfielder arrived in camp on Monday and took part in training at their Arnhem base. Essien was not part of the non-residential camping in Accra for personal reasons.

The 31-year-old, who is on the verge of making his second World Cup appearance, is upbeat about his chances and wants to give off his best.

“I am delighted to be back with the Black Stars. I am coming here to give off my best for the country,” Essien told the official Ghana FA website.

The Black Stars are fine-tuning their strategies ahead of a friendly against The Netherlands on May 31.
