Former Asante Kotoko and Medeama winger, Michael Helegbe has stated that he was not surprised to see Medeama beat the Porcupine Warriors to lift the 2015 FA Cup trophy.

The Tarkwa based club were delight to watch last Sunday at the Essipong sports stadium as they outplayed the defending champions and won the game 2-1.

It was Medeama’s second FA Cup final win over Kotoko in two years as the Mauve and Yellows will return back to Africa via winning the competition.

However, Michael Helegbe who now plays for Lebanese top-flight side, AC Tripoli has exclusively told Allsports.com.gh from his base in Lebanon that he was not surprised to see Medeama beat Asante Kotoko for the giant trophy.

“ Kotoko were the defending champions and favorite to win the game on paper but not forgetting that Medeama won against them 2 years ago in Accra by then I was in Kotoko and also played and we lost 1-0.

"before last Sunday's game Medeama had the upper hand over Kotoko and a lot of confidence within them because the game was going to be played at the Western Region so their believe to beat Kotoko was very high and they achieved it which I’m not surprised they won the cup,” Helegbe said.

Michael Helegbe before moving to Lebanon he featured for Kotoko in the 2011/12 season and joined Medeama in the 2013/14 league season.
