Hearts of Oak captain Mahatma Otoo says he is not surprised at receiving a debut call up into the Black Stars ahead of Ghana’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan on March 24 2013.
The striker was a surprise inclusion in head coach Kwasi Appiah’s squad despite scoring 8 goals so far in the Glo Premier League.
Otoo however told footy-ghana.com that he has done a lot previously to deserve a place in the squad.
“I’m not surprised at all, because the whole country can attest to the fact that I am doing well. I have played some brilliant games and scored some great goals this season. I am on form with my current club and I have scored two goals in my last two games for Hearts of Oak, so for me I truly deserve a place in the Black Stars team," he said.
The former Black Satellites captain also told footy-ghana.com that his focus now is to work hard to retain his place in the Black Stars squad.
“Now the focus is to work hard and remain in the team. That is what I want to do now and help the team beat Sudan,” he added.
