I´m proud of Jordan despite poor Villa campaign - Rahim Ayew

Not many players have come out of this season for Aston Villa with any sort of credit. The club are bottom of the Premier League and look certain to drop down to the Championship this weekend.

But one player who seems to have impressed in glimpses, despite the poor performances of those around him, is Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew.

Signed from Lorient in the summer he has scored six goals for the club this season which is not exactly breath-taking. But in this Villa team, that is quite a feat.

Ayew, who is the son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele and brother of Swansea City forward Andre Ayew, has another older brother in the shape of Ibrahim Ayew.

The former Lierse right-back has been speaking about Jordan Ayew this week and insists he is proud of his brother despite the poor campaign Villa have suffered. He is quoted by GhanaWeb as stating:

“I am so proud of his performance. Everyone has seen what he can do. His dream was to play in the Premier League and now he is there.

“The experience may not be too good because Villa are being relegated but on an individual scale he has been wonderful.”

Villa are set to go down but already the Ghana striker is being linked with plenty of other Premier League teams and he should easily find himself staying in the Premier League for next season.

Hopefully Ayew can come out of this disastrous season at Villa with some sort of credit and build a top career for himself in English football.
