Inter Allies Nigerien striker, Victorien Adebayor has stated that he is yet to meet a tough opposition in this season's Ghana Premier League campaign.
The attacker who has scored 8 goals in his last 9 appearances in the league, disclosed that he’s worked hard this season to stay in good form and shape which defenders struggle to overcome.
“From the games played so far, I’m yet to meet a tough opposition. I was not in the kind of shape I find myself now in the previous season. I feel very much in form this term,” Adebayor told Juliet Bawuah in an interview.
The forward who joined Inter Allies three seasons ago went on to add that the Ghana Premier League is difficult to play compared to Niger where he’s fed with ball often.
“The standard has been much higher compared to what we have back home in Niger. I observe my markers to know their movements and then come up with how to outwit them,” he said.
The striker added, “Back in Niger, I was used to being fed with the ball from the back and just doing the finishing. But here (Inter Allies), I do more work with and without the ball. I run into spaces to get the ball and attack which I was not used to in Niger, and I’m enjoying it.
Asked if he has any target for the season, Adebayor said, "I prefer to do the talking on the pitch. I’m a player and all I look out for is the chance to score. So, I target the opportunities that will make me score more and not just the wishes. "
The striker, however, hopes to win the GPL Goal king award if he keeps scoring consistently.
"Only Allah knows if I will beat off the competition and win the goal king race. Mine is to do well to score as many as possible whenever I play.”
