I never insulted the Sports Minister - Mubarak Wakaso

Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has quashed reports of a “scuffle” with Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuije.

Reports went viral that the Greece-based midfielder has used abusive language on the government official hence blaming him for the recent woes in the Black Stars team.

The Sports Minister since his appointment into office seemed to have blocked some indulgence in the Black Stars team after refusing to pay the players huge sums of money as winning bonuses.

This was reported to have pushed the Panathinaikos man to allegedly slur the former GBC Sports Broadcaster.

Wakaso speaking with Happy FM denied the said allegation indicating he has no idea of such news hence urged Ghanaians to treat it as falsehood.

“I don’t know anything about me insulting Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuije. It was even the minister who showed me the story which was making rounds in the presence of Asamoah Gyan and Agyeman Badu.

“He even showed me the response he gave to those peddling the rumours. I’m not bothered about it because I know nothing like that happened and the minister also knows that nothing of that sort happened between us.

“After the meeting, the minister said that I spoke differently from the way he saw me and that I speak so maturely so we were both surprised at this story making rounds that I insulted the minister.

“ I know that sometimes people may not like you and would want to say negative things about you but I’m focused on my football career and my family.

The player was involved in Ghana’s disappointing 0-0 stalemate with Uganda in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Tamale Sports Stadium last Friday.
