Stars Maxwell Konadu has issued a bigoted statement after he was alleged to have tagged Ghana’s 31-man squad as not being the best selected for the tournament in Equatorial Guinea.
The former Asante Kotoko head coach was alleged to have issued a statement indicating the 31 selected were not all the best players Ghana could produce for next month’s competition.
But Konadu who handled the team in four out of the six qualification matches says he has never issued such statement as speculated.
“I have never said that to anyone. I heard the news all around and I was surprised. Am wondering the people behind this,” the astute football tactician told Ghanasportsonline.com in an exclusive interview.
“Can you oppose your boss whenever he takes a decision? As an assistant coach am ready to give my support to my head in other for us to succeed”.
“The coach recommended some players which he thought needed a call-up into the team of which I gave him my support’.
“So I don’t really know where all this news is coming from. I have never told anyone or any media house that”.
Konadu is however expected to pair up with Avram Grant in other to succeed at the 2015 Cup of Nations which starts on January 17.
