Former Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has disclosed he rejected an offer from Serie A side Torino FC during his playing days at Asante Kotoko.

The 59-year-old was one of the best players at the Porcupine Warriors between 1983 and 1993 and his impressive performances attracted interests from several clubs in Europe especially in Italy.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM ahead of his maiden book launch in Kumasi on Friday, the former Black Stars left-back and skipper said, "We were not travellers those days football, the kind of manners we use to have those days was amazing."

"Our current generation is full of foreigners. I remember winning the 1983 Cup of Nations, some agents came to be with an offer to join Torino in Italy but I said no to them because I was comfortable with Asante Kotoko," he added.

Coach Kwesi Appiah clinched eight titles with Asante Kotoko during his time at the club.
