Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Banahene says he terminated his contract with Egyptian side Ismaily because he is owed wages from last season.

Also, Banahene rubbished reports by the Egyptian club who alleged that he absconded from camp last Friday without permission.

Ismaily complained about Banahene’s disappearance and threatened to report him to FIFA.

But Banahene told Egyptian football website KingFut.com that he truncated his contract with Ismaily after they failed to fulfil their obligations.

"Yes, they owe me money and don’t want to pay. I didn’t run away; I cancelled my contract,” Banahene said.

"Last season they owed me one hundred and twenty thousand dollars and this season too.

"They are the ones not telling the truth. I was the one who took them to FIFA, and they said I should redraw the case, or else they won’t pay me and won’t let me play, that was why against Smouha I was not allowed to play.

"Last season was six months plus this season they were supposed to pay ninety thousand US Dollars before the league started but they gave me forty-five thousand only.

"So sorry for them, I do my best for them, but they don’t want to pay me, so I have no choice than to leave.”
