Legendary Ghanaian footballer, Nii Odartey Lamptey, has dismissed claims that he did not stay with his ex-wife while playing football abroad, which allegedly led to their issues.

He stated that the allegations made by some members of the public, suggesting he did not stay with his ex-wife during his time abroad, are baseless and should be ignored.

Lamptey emphasized that he spent sufficient time with her, making it hard for him to understand why she had an affair with another man and bore his children.

In an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah, Odartey mentioned that such issues are not exclusive to footballers, but many individuals face similar challenges in court. However, their fame as footballers brings their cases into the spotlight.

“I have been reading stories about the footballers but I think it is not limited to only footballers. When I started going to court, that is when I realized because we are stars, ours is more popular. There are a lot of cases in court over the DNA test issues. Everywhere I went to play football, I stayed with the woman.

"Some people were circulating that I left her [ex-wife] alone or I was not having enough time for her, but it was not like that. She had not even traveled before, so I took her with me everywhere I went. I can’t really tell why footballers face that challenge; it’s difficult,” he said in Twi.

It will be recalled that Odartey Lamptey trended on social media after it was revealed that he was not the father of the children with his ex-wife following a DNA test.

The issue gained significant attention after his ex-wife attempted to claim some of his properties, which the court ruled in his favor.
