Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew has indicated that he has been playing out of position for quite some time in both club and national teams.

Having played as a winger in recent years, the Crystal Palace man returned to the centre-forward role in Ghana's game against the Central African Republic and netted a hat-trick in a 4-3 win.

Speaking at the post-match conference, he said that although he has not been playing in his preferred position, he always gives his best and never complains.

"I've been playing out of position for quite some time in the national team and also at the club level. But I have always done my duty, put my country first, and never complained because I always give my all," he stated.

"It's difficult. It's not something that I like to talk about, but, my favourite position, right from the academy, in France, in the national team, has always been as a number 9," he added.

However, he acknowledged that he has the qualities to play multiple positions; hence, he never complains and just goes about his business.

"I have qualities that allow me to play in pockets of space, and I don't complain," he concluded.

Jordan Ayew's hat-trick took his tally to four goals in the World Cup qualifiers, sitting just a goal behind Egypt's Mohamed Salah on the top scorers' chart.
