'I want to go to Morocco with the Black Stars'

TP Mazembe defender Yaw Frimpong says he is targeting a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2015 African Nations Cup tournament in Morocco early next year.

He told footy-ghana.com that he is working very hard to achieve his aim, noting that consistent performances for the DR Congo giants would help him along the way.

“That is a huge target of mine. I want to be part of the squad that goes to Morocco. I just need to continue working hard and playing for my club and I am sure that my chance will come.”

Frimpong has received a few national call ups, including an invitation into the squad for the African Nations Cup qualifying double header against Uganda and Togo, but says he will be patiently waiting for the chance to actually play for the Black Stars.

“I have been part of the squad a few times, especially for the last two games, but I am yet to kick a ball for the Black Stars in a match. I will bide my time and I know that with hard work and patience, I will get to play for the Black Stars one day.”

Frimpong told footy-ghana.com that hings were tough for him initially when he moved from Asante Kotoko to TP Mazembe, but added that he is happier now that he is getting regular playing time for the former CAF Champions League holders.

“It was very tough when I moved to TP Mazembe and I was struggling to get minutes on the pitch, thankfully, things are better now and I am playing regularly.”

Yaw Frimpong and his team-mates would be in action this weekend against Algeria’s Entente Setif in a CAF Champions League semifinal first leg clash.
