Legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has opened up about his ongoing legal disputes with Ghanaian football star Asamoah Gyan over the years.
Maurice Ampaw has frequently clashed with Asamoah Gyan on various issues, with one of their main battles revolving around the alleged rape of Sarah Kwablah.
Sarah Kwablah, a former student at the University of Ghana, accused Asamoah Gyan of rape and sodomy in 2015.
Lawyer Ampaw also served as the lead counsel for Ghanaian journalist Osarfo Anthony in a malicious prosecution lawsuit.
These legal battles lasted for six years before the court finally resolved the matter.
Explaining why he is consistently involved in issues related to Asamoah Gyan, Maurice Ampaw revealed that he harbored no personal grievances against the former Black Stars player.
Instead, he clarified that Gyan had labeled him a social media lawyer and he wanted to prove him wrong.
"I don’t have any personal issue with Asamoah Gyan," Ampaw stated.
"I just want to prove him wrong because he dared me. He was discrediting me, claiming I was just a social media lawyer and not among the top lawyers in Ghana.
"So I wanted to show him that I am indeed one of the top lawyers in the country," Maurice Ampaw shared during an appearance on The Delay Show in July 2024.
Lawyer Ampaw emphasized that his legal battles with Asamoah Gyan played a significant role in establishing him as a high-profile lawyer, especially since many of his colleagues avoided taking on such controversial cases.
"The work I do in this country, no lawyer born of a woman can match it. I handle cases that others shy away from," he stressed.
