President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his deep appreciation to the Local Organization Committee (LOC) for their successful organisation of the 13th African Games in Ghana.

He was particularly impressed by the commitment and dedication of the LOC members, which ensured the games were hosted smoothly.

President Akufo-Addo acknowledged the challenge of organising a high-profile event involving 13,000 participants, noting it deserved commendation.

He said, "I was impressed by your commitment and passion. Your clear articulation demonstrated that, given the opportunity, you could do it. This gave me the confidence to insist at the AU and elsewhere that we would host the games successfully.

"It's not easy to manage 13,000 people, ensuring they are comfortable, treated fairly, and well taken care of," he said in a video shared by JoyNews on X.

He added, "One of the highlights of my presidency is the way my peers, fellow presidents across the continent, have been congratulating me on the success of the African Games.

"The games went very well, and the whole continent feels enhanced and elevated by it. Just this weekend, Musafaki Mohammed, the President of the AU Commission, was talking about the games."

The president noted that the success of the games has earned him praise from leaders across Africa.

Ghana hosted the 13th African Games from March 4-23, 2024, in Accra at the new international standard multi-complex sports facility at Borteyman and the newly commissioned University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Ghana placed sixth on the medals table with a total of 69 medals: 19 gold, 29 silver, and 21 bronze, marking the country's best performance at an international multi-sport event to date.
