Former Asante Kotoko CEO Samuel Opoku Nti believes the club has recruited strong players to secure the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title.

The Porcupine Warriors had a tough season last year, finishing 6th with 49 points. However, they have signed 12 new players for the upcoming season.

As part of their preparations, Kotoko defeated Hearts of Oak 2-1 in the first edition of the Democracy Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.

With the new season starting with an away game against Karela United, Opoku Nti expressed his confidence in the team.

"I will be shocked if Asante Kotoko don't win the league, given the team they have assembled. These days, both individual talent and teamwork are crucial. Sometimes the coach doesn't need to give orders; in those situations, you need players who are mature enough to step up and support the team when called upon, and I think that's what the current Kotoko team has.

"The additions Kotoko has made make me extremely happy, and if this pattern keeps up, it will be a turning point. Considering Kotoko's rivals, I'd be shocked if Kotoko do not win the league," he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will face Medeama SC on Friday, August 16, 2024, to officially inaugurate the newly built T&A Park.
