Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Joseph Yamin says he will feel comfortable working under his boss Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah due to the latter’s vast knowledge in sports.
Ghana’s Parliament on April 29, 2013 approved by consensus the nomination of 35 personalities appointed by President John Mahama, including Yamin as the new deputy minister of youth and sports.
Yamin, who is known to be an astute politician, but not a sports enthusiast, told Agoo FM that he is only there to help, adding that his love for sports is unknown to many.
“I’m here to help the ministry. People know me to be a politician but they don’t know the other side of me. I like sports very much especially football. Most sports journalists are my friends, and I will be very comfortable working as Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah’s deputy.
“I know is an uphill task but we understand and we will be able to turn things around hopefully. The interesting thing once again is the call to serve the people of Ghana in sports, be it football, volley ball, and all the rest. I’m abreast of all the sporting issues in the country, as a passionate man in sports. I have been a lover of football since my playing days, so definitely we will help the ministry to thrive," he said.
Information gathered by footy-ghana.com indicates that Joseph Yamin officially started work on Monday, May 6, 2013 as the new deputy minister of youth and sports.
