*GBA President aspirant Lawyer Zwennes: I will save Ghana Boxing*

Lawyer Peter R. Zwennes has promised to make boxing the number sport in the country when given the nod as GBA president at their congress to be held soon.

Speaking to your truly last Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium, after picking his nomination forms, he described the upcoming congress as historic and added that when given the nod as the president, he will brand boxing in the country to make it more appealing and attractive for the corporate world to invest in it.

Peter Zwennes, a product of St. Augustine's College explained that the major headache of the GBA is sponsorship and intends to make it a priority.

He noted that boxing won Ghana the first sports world title when in 1976 David Poison won the World Featherweight title, and promised to create more and better world beaters.

He added that he will project boxing in a way that it will be second to none in order to derive the full benefits.

Mr. Zwennes is equally concerned with the level of development and promotion of boxing at the regional level and said if he wins the upcoming elections, boxing will be given a regional dimension. He said Ghana has produced champions from regions like Nana Konadu (Brong Ahafo), Sulley Shitu (Eastern Region), Joe Okey (Ashanti Region) among others.

He said he will take boxing to the doorstep of every region in the country to harness the hidden talents there, adding that, “this is one of the surest ways to let boxing rival football.”

Having being a long standing member of the GBA, Mr. Zwennes hopes his experience acquired through the years, dedication and commitment would appeal to the delegates to vote massively.
