Head Coach of the Black Stars, Avram Grant, has lashed out at critics, calling for his resignation after failing to beat Egypt in the 2018 World Cup qualifying match in Alexandria, Egypt.

The Black Stars are without a win in 2018 World Cup qualification, after drawing 0-0 at home in their opening game against Ghana and losing the second match 2-0 against the Pharaohs at Borg El-Arab Stadium.

Grant has put off any talks about his future beyond 2017 African Cup of Nations however, he remained positive claiming that the AFCON is his current target.

“Yes I’d love to stay here, we have the African Cup of Nations, our target is very clear. I always want to finish my contract and my contract expires after the end of the African Cup that was two years and three months ago,” Grant told Metro TV.

“I want to win the African Cup. It will not be easy, there are other good teams but this is possible and I want to do it,” the former Chelsea manager said.

…In football you cannot think beyond two or three months. Let’s do what we need to do at the African Cup and then we think about what’s next.” Grant added.

It is worth a mention that Ghana will play in Group D in 2017 African Cup of Nations alongside Egypt, Uganda and Mali, as they are looking for their first continental glory since 1982.
