Former Ghana international Asamoah Gyan has shared empathy with Andre Ayew over his recent omission from the Black Stars lineup.

Coach Otto Addo left out captain Andre Ayew from Ghana's squad to face Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Gyan expressed that if he were in Ayew's shoes, the decision would not sit well with him.

Gyan admitted that such a decision would have been difficult to accept, however, the coach's decision is final and must be respected.

"If it were me, I wouldn't be happy, which is a normal thing, but at the end of the day, the coach has made the decision, so we have to just support. We shouldn't forget Andre is already a legend," he said.

Gyan had earlier said on Joy FM, "For me, Andre has done so much for Ghana. He started way back in 2007 and has been consistent in the national team. He is the most capped player."

"I think the coach has made his decision. Personally, I played with Andre, and he has done everything for Ghana, but this is the situation where we have to move on. The coach has made his decision," he added.
