Ghanaian business mogul Ibrahim Mahama has taken over the ownership of Ghana Premier League side Techiman Eleven Wonders Football Club now Techiman Benfica Sporting Club in a deal worth $40,000, Ghanacrusader.com can exclusively report.
Mahama sealed the deal with the Techiman-based club on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 and all players of the team will be transferred to the new owner.
Ghanacrusader sources further reveal that, the team will be moved from the Nana Ameyaw park to Tamale where they will be using the Tamale Sports Stadium for their home matches.
The surprise takeover – was finalised on Wednesday afternoon after months of secret talks with club chairman Nana Ameyaw Manu and Seedorf Soccerlink Academy and Agency who recently signed a partnership agreement with the Ghana Premier League side.
The businessman pledged to pump more resources into the club and expect the deal to move Eleven Wonders onto the “next level”.
Mr Mahama, who is brother to ex-president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, is the founder of Engineers and Planners – largest indigenous-owned mining company in West Africa, and the owner of several other businesses in Ghana.
Techiman Eleven Wonders made their maiden appearance in the Ghana top-flight in the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League season.
The Techiman-based out secured top spot in their Zone to earn promotion to (GPL) after several years of trying to make an impact.
They confirmed their place in the Ghana Premier League after they defeated Unity FC 1-0 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Bechem in the Zone 1 of the National Division One League to clinch their place.
