Ghanaian attacker Ibrahim Sadiq scored his first goal of the season to secure a 1-0 victory for AZ Alkmaar against Almere City FC in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday evening.

The match at Yanmar Stadion saw AZ Alkmaar dominate with greater possession and shots on target.

Sadiq found the back of the net in the 4th minute with a right-footed shot from the center of the box, following a swift counterattack. Despite being substituted in the 57th minute by Dutch-born Ghanaian attacker Ernest Poku, Sadiq's early goal proved to be the decisive factor in the match.

The game was marred by red cards, with AZ Alkmaar's Maxim Dekker sent off in the 18th minute. Almere City FC suffered a double blow with Baptiste Guillaume and Ricardo Visus both dismissed in the 34th and 79th minutes, respectively.

AZ Alkmaar will next face NEC Nijmegen in their upcoming league game on August 17.
