Former captain of Accra Hearts of Oak, Yaw Amankwa Mireku says he has no regrets over his career choice as a footballer acknowledging that it has been very rewarding.

The 40-year-old enjoyed an outstanding career with Hearts of Oak, winning the league on multiple occassions, the CAF Champions league and the CAF Confederation cup.

He belongs to a select group of local based players who due to their excellent displays on the pitch were drafted into the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

He had a brief stint abroad with Viva Kerala in India in 2007 and also represented Pure Joy FC and Wa AllStars.

In an interview with local station Asempa FM, Amankwaah Mireku said “If I die and come back ten times, I will always want to be a footballer”.

“I am not really a wealthy person because of football but I will never say I have regretted playing football”, he concluded.
