Former Belgium goalkeeper Wim De Coninck has exalted the display of rejuvenated Dennis Appiah but lamented on the performance of the whole team as they struggle to qualify for the Jupilar Pro League Playoffs.
The Purple and White lads climbed to 6th spot on the league table on Sunday following a 2-1 victory over Sporting Lokeren at the Daknamstadion.
Despite the win, De Coninck criticized the performance of the team and claimed they will struggle to make the playoff if their play does not improve.
The 59-year-old took time to heap praises on Appiah, who has been churning out fantastic performances since returning to the starting line-up a fortnight ago.
"Anderlecht's football can be better, but they still take points that are needed to hit Play-off 1. Many people say that if they play in this way in Play-off 1 they will not break pots, but there is progress, "said the former goalkeeper.
"There are some players coming out of the dust like Dennis Appiah, Ivan Obradovic and Yari Verschaeren with his great talent. But you can hardly expect that boy to do it all alone. Yannick Bolasie can also bring something and Thomas Didillon is excellent, but you expect more from RSCA."
"I hear that Trebel should be ready for the play-offs and that is going to make a difference. He provides much more balance on that midfield. It is someone with whom you can always lose the ball, have duel power and can kick goal. It is going to be a serious difference with him. "
