Inaki Williams made history on Sunday, September 14, 2024, by becoming the first Athletic Bilbao player since 2005 to provide three assists in a single league game during their 3-2 victory over Las Palmas.
The Ghanaian forward's playmaking was pivotal in Bilbao’s away win, showcasing a standout performance following his return from the international break.
Williams first assisted Oihan Sancet for the opening goal in the seventh minute with a perfectly timed pass.
Just over 20 minutes later, he set up his younger brother, Nico Williams, who curled a brilliant shot past the Las Palmas goalkeeper for Bilbao’s second goal.
Williams completed his trio of assists in the 75th minute by setting up Aitor Paredes, restoring their two-goal lead after Las Palmas had threatened a comeback.
The last Bilbao player to achieve this was Fran Yeste, who recorded three assists in a 2005 match against Real Betis.
Inaki Williams’ achievement highlights his significant impact at the club as Bilbao continues their strong start to the season.
