Indiscipline caused Dwarfs' demotion - JE Sarpong

Celebrated Ghanaian football tactician Coach Joseph Emmanuel Sarpong has attributed Ebusua Dwarfs’ relegation to the lower Ghanaian soccer ranks to player indiscipline.

After finishing just a point above bottom-placed Amidaus Professionals, the duo together with King Faisal are set to partake in next season’s National Division

One League, the country’s second tier soccer division, in the hope of making a quick return back to the Ghanaian top flight.

Speaking to Liquidsportsghana.com, the tough-talking coach, who only took over the mantle as coach of the club last March, attributed Dwarfs’ demotion to indiscipline on the part of his players.

“I think I fought well but the players didn’t help because when we needed to win against Hasaacas and Inter Allies, we lost,” he told the on-line portal. Popularly known as JE Sarpong, the former Liberty trainer went on to give a classical example of an unfortunate situation he witnessed at the Cape Coast-based club.

“I remember a goalkeeper against Hasaacas,” Sarpong narrated. “He abandoned a game because a fan had insulted him on the field.

“On his way out, he stated: ‘this is why you guys will be relegated’ and it tells you the mentality of such players,” Sarpong concluded.

Six months after leaving Aduana Stars, Sarpong took over Dwarfs from former trainer Prof Kwesi Mintah at a time when the club was rock bottom on the league standing.
