Inter Allies duo Prosper Kassim and Sarbah Lawson have signed for Swedish top-flight side IFK Gothenburg, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
Former coach Mikael Stahre and Sporting Director Mats Gren spotted the two players when they visited Ghana earlier this year in search of talents.
The two Ghana youth internationals have both signed five-year contracts and are expected to join the Blue-Whites on 09 January for pre-season in Turkey.
But Lawson will not be eligible to feature for the Blavitts until the summer when he is 18.
A year older Kassim is a key member of Ghana’s U20 team which qualified for next year’s African Youth Championship in Senegal.
“Kasim is a left-footed winger who can play on both wings. Very good one for one, incredibly good understanding of the game and both scorer and assists players,” Gren said about the 18-year-old’s qualities.
He added that: “Lawson is a central midfielder, fast and very aggressive, as he is very talented with the ball. He can still develop his offensive game and join right up to the finish, but defensively he is incredibly strong.”
According to Sporting director Mats Gren, new coach Jörgen Lennartsson has belief in the two players who were scouted by the former coach Stahre.
“He (Lennartsson) has talked to others. The funny thing was that the person who Jorgen talked to came up with four names he thought was absolutely outstanding. These guys were two of them.”
IFK Gothenburg were runners-up in the 2014 Swedish Allsvenskan and will play in the 2015/2016 Europa League.
