Inter Milan Joins the Fight for Asamoah

Agent Claudio Vagheggi revealed that contact had been made with representatives from Inter Milan and Juventus over the transfer of Udinese's Kwado Asamoah and Mauricio Isla.

Asamoah, a Ghanian international, is just 23 years old and is seen as a rising star with the ability to play in the holding midfielder role. A number of Serie A clubs have been interested in procuring the services of the midfielder with the youngster being seen as an ideal long-term replacement for Juve's Claudio Marchisio and Inter's Esteban Cambiasso.

Inter are specifically in the midst of a rebuilding project with Andrea Stramaccioni keen to rejuvenate the first team squad. They could face a tussle for Asamoah's services, however, as Serie A champions Juventus have also registered their interest and are expected to make a number of signings in order to retain the Scudetto in the coming year.

In addition, the Udine-based club's 22-year-old Chilean winger Isla has also been linked recently to the two clubs. Their agent strongly believes that Udinese will have to make a serious decision in the coming weeks on whether they should cash in on their young stars and feels that the club are not averse to making a sale.

"The value of the players will be determined by Udinese - I guess they want to sell, this is how I read the club's purposes," the agent told Radio Sport. "Discussions are ongoing, but I do not know who they are talking with. The players must wait until the parties agree. Even though the club intends to sell, their prices are high as they are valuable.

"Inter and Juventus are among the teams interested, but there are others. When talking about the top teams there are no preferences, they are all at a very high level.

"Udinese are already looking at alternatives to them, but the timing of the moves? It depends on Udinese, so we wait. Contacts, though, have already been made."
