Black Stars head coach Akwasi Appiah has hinted he could leave the job, when his current contract runs out.
Appiah is in his second spell with the side and certainly is a character that easily divides opinions as to his competencies in being tactically astute, to steer Ghana to continental and global glory.
The 59-year-old former Ghana and Asante Kotoko defender has had to face a barrage of criticisms and this heightened, particularly after the Black Stars’ dismal performance at the AFCON 2019 tournament.
His current contract is set to expire in December 2019 and the former Ghana captain has indicated he might not pursue a renewal.
Speaking shortly after his side had posted a comfortable 2-0 victory over South Africa in an AFCON 2021 Qualifier, Coach Appiah remarked “who knows at the end of my contract, I will say I will not renew, I can pick my bag (and leave)”.
The Black Stars’ next assignment is an away game against Sao Tome and Principe on Monday, November 18.
If Coach Akwasi Appiah really meant his words about leaving, then this game could serve as his last.
