Isaac Cofie's Carpi facing 'real' Serie A relegation dangers

Ghanaian midfielder Isaac Cofie played full throttle for Carpi who failed to breathe life into their Serie A survival hopes when they suffered a 3-1 defeat against AS Roma on Friday night.

Carpi manager Fabrizio Castori handed the 24-year-old midfielder his 17th start of the season and he lasted the entire period of the game, but he failed to make the impact as Roma bagged the maximum points from the game.

The win, Roma's fourth in succession, takes them to 47 points above Fiorentina and Inter Milan, and continue their revival since the sacking of Rudi Garcia and re-appointment of Luciano Spalletti.

The goals came via second-half goals from Lucas Digne, Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah, Dzeko's effort restoring Roma's lead after Kevin Lasagna had equalised for Carpi.

Cofie joined Carpi on loan from Genoa after leaving Chievo Verona last season.

Carpi, who earned promotion to the Italian top-flight this season, are struggling to keep up with the demands of winning in the Serie A and are third from bottom - having played a game more than Hellas Verona.
