Issah Samir explains reason for fighting brother Bastie Samir

Bastie and Issah Samir are both boxers Bastie and Issah Samir are both boxers

Many were least impressed about the exhibition match-up between Issah Samir and his brother Bastie Samir which was organised by Green Code Boxing Gym in collaboration with Defenders Boxing Club with support from the Ghana Boxing Federation in Swedru in the Central Region of Ghana on December 28, 2018.

But Issah Samir has clarified the confusion :

“I knew most people were reading meanings with worry but we have been doing this for a long time. When Bastie has a fight I spar for him and vice versa. In this situation, the opponent chosen for him opted out of the fight at the last hour hence my decision to replace him.” Issah Samir explained in an interview.

The silver medalist at the 2007 all African games extended a candid advise to aspiring boxers

“Boxing is a very disciplined job, currently the richest athlete in the world is Floyd Mayweather meaning there is money in the sport. Mayweather had no education yet made a breakthrough with the sport. We(Issah and Samir) started boxing early. We have had many opportunities to travel to other countries all credited to boxing. So one needs to understand the sport.” He advised.

With a total of 16 bouts, 14 by way of KO’s culminating into an 88 percentage Knockout ratio, Issah Samir just like his brother is still undefeated in 67 rounds of boxing.

On the night TJ Defender, the local favourite managed around 4 TKO over Stephen Quaye.

A night of knockouts was a sellout according to the organisers of the event notwithstanding its novelty stage in Swedru.
