President Nana Akufo-Addo has distanced himself from the work of the Ghana Football Association saying that it is not his place to fight the supposed rot that plagues the football governing body.
There have been calls from a section of the public for President Akufo Addo to also consider Sports as one of the key areas to be scrutinised by the Special Prosecutor.
The President However argued that it will be against FIFA rules for his government to interfere with work of the Football Association and charged the stakeholders involved to be proactive in dealing with issues surrounding the development of the sport in the country.
Speaking to journalists at the Flagstaff House on Wednesday, 17 January, as part of his second encounter with the media, the president said:
“My understanding is that the football administration body, by FIFA rules, is independent and devoid of executive interference. Those in the sector are the ones who are supposed to deal with mismanagement.”
