The Sports Ministry’s take-it-or-leave it proposal of $ 5,000 winning bonus for the Black Stars could jeopardize the country’s 2018 World Cup campaign.

GHANASoccernet.com sources say the ministry can no longer pay each player $10,000 as winning bonus because it claims it is cash-strapped.

The Ghana FA is yet to hold a meeting with the hierarchy of the players about this new directive. It is likely will reject this proposal and ask for a return to the status quo.

Ghana play Comoros in Moroni on Friday in the first leg before hosting the return leg in Kumasi on 17 November.

The issue of slashing the bonus structure of the national team came up earlier this year with deputy minister of Youth and Sports Vincent Oppong Asamoah having been on record to state that $ 5 000 take or leave it structure was on the table for the cup of nations in Equatorial Guinea but after back and forth negotiations the Ministry’s position did not hold water.

This revival of this issue with barely four days to play against Comoros could stabilize the concentration of the team ahead of the game against Comoros.
