Swiss-Ghanaian forward Kwadwo Duah has disclosed how his Ghanaian parents reacted to his first goal for Switzerland in the 2024 European Championship.
The FC Ludogorets forward was born in London to Ghanaian parents before moving to Switzerland at a young age.
Despite having the option of playing for Ghana and England, Duah decided to represent Switzerland after the opportunity presented itself.
The Bulgaria-based forward opened his account at Euro 2024 in Switzerland's opening game against Hungary on June 15, a proud moment for himself and his family.
"It was a big moment for my family and me," he told the BBC. "To score the first goal for Switzerland in a European Championship, I don’t think everyone does that, and we were all very happy.
"I was born in London, but we don’t have family there anymore. My mum and dad were in Ghana, but they had an opportunity to go to England because it offered a better life."
