It was right to sack Didi – George Kennedy

Asante Kotoko Operations Manager George Kennedy insists the sacking of Didi Dramani was justified despite the side’s painful exit from the CAF Champions League.

The Ghanaian champions were dumped out of the continental contest following a shocking 2-1 defeat at home to Algerian club MC El Eulma on Sunday.

Kotoko looked set to clinch progress in the Champions League after securing a goalless draw in the first leg of their Champions League clash.

That impressive result was secured in the lead up to the official appointment of David Duncan who replaced Mas-Ud Dramani at Kotoko after a string of poor results.

Even though Duncan kept a 100 percent record until Sunday’s painful loss to Eulma, some of the fans have criticized the former Hearts of Oak trainer’s selection as being responsible for the defeat.

George Kennedy however insists the club was right to sack Didi Dramani due to the positive effect David Duncan has had on the team.

“I still believe the sacking of Didi Dramani was justified, but as a coach, you can’t win all matches,” he told Asempa FM.

“A good coach is determined by winning majority of his matches.

“The response of the players since the appointment of David Duncan justified our decision to bring him in.

“We know the effect David Duncan has made on the team. It is rather unfortunate this defeat has come but there is clearly some sort of revival in the team.”
