It will be difficult for us to win it - Abedi Pele

Olympique Marseille and Ghana legend Abedi Ayew ‘Pele’ says the Black Stars will find it difficult to win the 2012 African Nations Cup.

Pele, who captained the Black Stars from 1992 to 1998 and was part of Ghana’s African Nations Cup winning squad in 1982, was addressing journalists who had gathered to celebrate his son’s (Andre Ayew’s) achievement as the reigning BBC African Footballer of the Year.

The left-footed wizard, capped 73 times for Ghana, noted that the Black Stars would shine in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, but declared that it would be tough to win the African Nations Cup.

‘We have a team that can shine at the tournament, but as for winning it, it will be difficult for us to do so.’

Pele also thanked the media for the support given Andre, which according to him, helped his son win the BBC Award.

The press lunch, also attended by Andre and brothers Rahim and Jordan, was sponsored by Fan Milk Limited
