Konan Grati Richard Kouassi, an Ivorian Peace Ambassador, has called on the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Vincent Oppong Asamoah at his office in Accra.
He was accompanied by the First Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Cote’ D’Ivoire, Mr Emmanuel Fiegolo.
Mr Kouassi, stated that he was touring Africa to promote peace through riding a bicycle and that he had toured eighteen (18) countries so far.
He said that he wanted to use the tour to also encourage people to take sports seriously since sports is used as a tool to promote peace and development adding that there was the need for people to keep fit by exercising continuously.
Mr Kouassi commended the Ghana Police Service for their assistance since his arrival in the country.
Oppong Asamoah, on behalf of the Minister, expressed his appreciation to the Peace Ambassador and reiterated the need for peace throughout Africa since it was very vital for development.
He indicated that Cote D’Ivoire and Ghana were sister countries that had co-existed peacefully for years.
Oppong Asamoah said that very soon, the Ministry would be launching the National Keep Fit Programme to sensitise Ghanaians on the need to keep fit adding that when people exercised regularly, the health bill would be reduced and productivity increased.
