Football Administrator Kofi Manu said he was approached to lead a crusade to impeach some members of the Emergency committee of the GFA after the 2006 World Cup.

According to him J.Y Appiah and Jones Abu Alhassan approached him and others to help remove some members from the then emergency committee: Randy Abbey and Fred Pappoe because they felt they were not treated fairly at the tournament.

Speaking on Kasapa Sports’ Dwidwamu with Adam Adjei on Wednesday, Kofi Manu said he is surprised about the commentary on the exgratia given to Executive Committee members of GFA after their tenure since it did not start today and it is obviously not going to end tomorrow until congress decides to put a hold on it.

Let me tell you the genesis of this exgratia thing, J.Y Appiah and Jones Abu Alhassan who were part of the contingent the GFA took to Germany to watch the 2006 world cup came back complaining that some members of the Emergency Committee lived comfortably whiles they were left to struggle during the tournament so they had to be impeached but I refused.
He, however, advised members of the Ex Co to rather seek the consent of congress on a befitting package for all members of the Ex Co so those left out of the Emergency Committee will not be envious.

I told Kudjo Fianoo the best way to ward off the intentions of J.Y Appiah and Jones Abu Alhassan was to look for a proper way of compensating each member of the Executive Committee in order not to make anybody feel left out. The suggestion was well received across board and members were asked to come forth with a mechanism to execute it.That was the beginning of this exgratia so I do not understand the fuss people are making about it.

Meanwhile, Kofi Manu a native of the Brong Ahafo Region has called on his fellow natives to exercise restraint over the GHALCA Chairman, Alhaji Ali Raji’s unsavory comment about the region so it does not degenerate into something nasty.

Alhaji Raji is purported to have referred to the people from the region as villagers but he says withdrawing their membership from GHALCA is not the way to go although he believes the purported comment is unfortunate.
